MU. DI. Geometrie dell'acqua

Museum | Casale Monferrato | Piemonte | Italy

The "MU.DI. Water Geometry" in Casale Monferrato is a dynamic museum that focuses on the theme of water and its importance for the environment and human society. It is located in the former hydraulic lifting plant of the Irrigation Consortium Valentino - San Germano, built between 1880 and 1885 according to the designs of the surveyor Paolo Gaudio. The architecture of the building is a fascinating example of industrial archaeology, and the historical machines inside reflect early applications of renewable energies.

The museum was restored in 2017 and offers an interactive exhibition that introduces visitors to the history of water use and its role in sustainability. Two fictional characters, the surveyor Arturo Bevilacqua and Miss Azzurra, who symbolically represents water, guide visitors through the different eras of water use and address the challenges of the present and future, especially in the context of climate change and human activities.

The museum uses multimedia technologies to interact virtually with historical figures and offers a mix of scientific contributions and reflective perspectives, including those of younger generations. The exhibition is designed to be suitable for visitors of all ages and to raise awareness of the valuable resource of water.
